Mette Geiker, Professor Emerita at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Trondheim, Norway is highly distinguished in collaboration and has built a large international network over the years. She has represented cement and concrete research in the Nordic countries in an excellent manner and is a role model and inspiration for young researchers.

Mette’s research focus areas have included understanding the relationships between structural and material properties of cement-based materials, characterization of concrete porosity, properties of fresh concrete, development of material properties, interaction between pore solution and solid phases, durability, reinforcement corrosion, and not least sustainability.

Mette Rica Geiker is an internationally recognized cement and concrete researcher and has throughout her academic career collaborated with the absolute top researchers in this field.

She has among other things been central in the formation of Nanocem, which for almost 20 years has been a successful network between industry and leading research institutions in Europe and an important factor for the breakthrough in understanding the hydration process, the properties of fresh concrete, and the durability and sustainability of concrete. Mette has also worked in the private sector, where she has made a significant contribution to lifespan modelling and sustainability through the implementation of the latest research results.

Mette has contributed greatly to the education of young researchers as she has supervised a large number of doctoral and postdoctoral students and has been responsible for training in two European Marie Curie training networks: Transcend and Nanocem.

Mette has a very long reference list of published articles, often written together with the most renowned researchers worldwide.

Mette has been a member of the Research Council og the NCF (RCNCF) for a number of years and contributed with her knowledge and large scientific network.
